Career Milestones:
1914 - started developing his yodeling technique
1923 - moved to Calgary, Alberta where he performed in bunkhouses, camps, house parties, and dances
1930 - debuted on radio station CFCN in Calgary (Canada)
1932 - sang as a trail rider for the Canadian Pacific Railway treks in the Canadian Rockies
1933 - first record for RCA Victor "Swiss Moonlight Lullaby" featuring his famous echo yodeling; also released "The Capture of Albert Johnson"
1933 - invited by the Canadian Pacific Railway to perform on the first voyage of the S.S. Empress of Britain
1934 - went to NY to audition at the studios of NBC and CBS
1935 - joined the Columbia Networks over WABC in New York City
1953 - began touring as "The Family Show With the Folks You Know" with his daughters as back-up singers and dancers
1964 - performed for the first time at the Calgary Stampede's Grandstand Show
1988 - ended his recording career due to poor hearing

1964 - Calgary Exhibition and Stampede\honored as "Balladeer of the Golden West, in sincere appreciation of 33 wonderful years"
1975 - RCA Records\for accumulated sales of over 40 years
1981 - Martin Guitar\Entertainer of the Year\for being the Canadian artist who has contributed the most to country music in Canada over the past year
