Billy
Sherrill
(when
asked what are some things to keep in mind when writing songs)
"First of all, you have to be honest with yourself and not talk
yourself into liking something that's garbage, something that nobody
else will like. If you stack your song up against the top five songs
in the country, and if it sounds as good as they do to you, then
you've got a good song. You must disassociate yourself from the song
and listen to it as if somebody else had written it, and that's a
hard thing to do."
