Dennis Morgan & Kye Flemming Hit Honored as Tennessee State Song

"Smoky Mountain Rain" Becomes Official State Song of Tennessee

Saturday, February 04, 2012 | Admin

Hall of Fame members Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan made history June 9, 2010 when their classic ballad “Smoky Mountain Rain” became the official state song of Tennessee.

The resolution, signed into law by Governor Phil Bredesen, praises the timeless song that pays “homage to the Great Smoky Mountains, which draw 2.2 million tourists annually to the State of Tennessee from around the world.”  “ Smoky Mountain Rain,” sung by country legend Ronnie Milsap, spent weeks on both the country and pop charts in 1980, becoming a crossover hit that evolved into one of the most beloved songs about Tennessee ever written.

Congratulations to Kye and Dennis on this tremendous honor.
